The Commission for Women had their Annual General Body Meet – 2026 with the Chairman Bishop, Bp George Pallipparambil sdb, DD at Bishop’s House Miao on 22nd and 23rd august 2026. The meeting was an annual schedule of the Commission where the deliberations were on the current state of the commission and their participation in the Church’s mission in the Diocese.  The participants were the Chairman Bishop, the Diocese commission coordinator, the Diocese Executive members and 6 (six) representatives from the Districts of Tirap, Changlang, Longding, Namsai, Lohit and Lower Dibang Valley.

The core deliberations and key focal points directed were:

• Commission’s role and contribution in the mission of the Church.

• The current issues of the faith of our people and what women can do to help faith deepen.  

• Need of the hour for women Catechists in all the villages.

• Women catechist training.

• Miao Diocese 8th Women Convention on 2027.

• Commission flag for the Diocese and the same for all 27 parish.

• Financial state of the commission.

While addressing the meeting, Bp George Pallipparambil asserted that, as a baptised Catholic, more than any account or report, one has to give an individual account on what s/he has done for the Church and their brethren who was/is in need of Christ. He also emphasized on the importance of ‘looking within the family,’ accompany children in their journey which marks as a part of their mission. He appreciated the sacrifice and hard work of all Mothers who single-handedly handle the matters and concerns of the family and encouraged them to keep on moving with faith and confidence and even step in political, administrative and business field.

The meeting concluded with few action plans:

- Women of Tirap and Changlang districts will work together to get contact and connect some lay Catholic faithful or other prominent figures from the non-Catholic/Christian villages between Kharsang, Changlang and Kola-gaon, Tirap Districts. This initiative is to enter in their midst to bring Christ to them.

- Women of Tirap districts will also get back to enter the villages of Hakhun, Khela and Lamchha village where Catholics are yet to enter.

- Women from all the Districts under Miao Diocese as a whole will work to win over at least 20-50 each new adult baptisms from indigenous or other denominations as a gift to the Church of Arunachal which will be celebrating its 50th year of faith.

- Animation program to be conducted every once a month for young mothers in every parish.

- Present women leaders to train young mothers to be future leaders in various capacities.

- Strengthen Resource persons team in the Diocese and train in parish level.

- Annual contribution of women commission to be collected as Rs 30/- per head from all the parishes and to be submitted before 15th March every year.
