The Solemnity of St. Peter, the Parish Feast of Tezu was marked with a vibrant and deeply spiritual three-day celebration that brought together all the community members in prayer, devotion, and community bonding from 27 to 29 June 2025
Centered around the Jubilee Cross and the Eucharistic Procession through Tezu town, the event drew participants from all the neighbouring communities who joined in a unified expression of faith and gratitude. The celebrations were animated throughout by Bishop Dennis Panipitchai SDB, the Auxiliary Bishop of Miao Diocese, who guided the faithful with inspiring reflections, prayers of deliverance, and sacramental celebrations.
The festivities began on Friday, coinciding with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The day featured special prayers of consecration to the Sacred Heart, reflections on God’s love and mercy, and a solemn Mass presided over by Bishop Dennis. The faithful were encouraged to deepen their trust in Jesus, whose Heart is a fountain of compassion for all. The day set the spiritual tone for the entire celebration, inviting everyone to open their hearts to God’s healing grace.
Saturday was dedicated to the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and focused on inner healing. The parish community gathered for a moving session of healing and deliverance prayer, led by Bishop Dennis, interceding for spiritual, emotional, and physical renewal. The faithful participated in heartfelt praise and worship, confessions, and silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. The Bishop urged everyone to imitate the humility and openness of Mary’s heart in their daily lives.
The culminating day on Sunday was the grand Parish Feast itself. The highlight was the solemn Eucharistic Procession carrying the Jubilee Cross through Tezu town, bearing public witness to the faith of the local Catholic community. Led by clergy, religious sisters, catechists, and lay leaders, the procession wound its way through the main streets, with hymns, Rosary recitations, and prayers for peace, unity, and blessings for the town.
A special Mass was celebrated during which Bishop Dennis conferred the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion to young members of the parish. It was a moment of deep joy and spiritual growth for the children, their families, and the entire parish community.
Adding colour and cultural richness to the celebration were performances by children and youth from KBM Hostel, Nama Maria Boarding, FMA Hostel Loiliang, and local parish youth groups. Their well-prepared entrance dances, offertory dance, and choir pieces filled the liturgy with energy and devotion, showcasing both talent and faith.
The three-day event concluded with a community meal, strengthening the bonds among the faithful and underlining the unity of the parish family. Parish Priest and organisers expressed gratitude to Bishop Dennis for his tireless animation over the three days, the religious communities, catechists, and all volunteers who worked behind the scenes to ensure the success of the celebration.
In his final address, Bishop Dennis urged the faithful of Tezu Parish to remain steadfast in their faith, to share Christ’s love with others, and to live as a vibrant, united community that continues to bear witness to the Gospel in the region.
