New Bunting Village, Khonsa, August 23, 2025: The long-cherished dream of the faithful of New Bunting Village became a reality with the blessing and inauguration of the newly constructed Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church under Christ the King Parish, Khonsa, on Saturday, 23rd August 2025.
The day began with the formal inauguration of the Church by Shri Techu Aran, APCS (AG), Deputy Commissioner of Tirap District, who commended the people of New Bunting for their unity and perseverance. In his address, he highlighted the importance of faith and harmony in building not just places of worship but also stronger communities.
Following the inauguration, the Solemn Blessing and Eucharistic Celebration was led by Most Rev. George Pallipparambil, SDB, Bishop of Miao. In his homily, the Bishop described the new Church as “a house of prayer, peace, and communion for all” and invited the faithful to make it a true center of faith by living joyfully in unity and service.
A total of 15 priests concelebrated the Holy Eucharist, while nearly 20 religious sisters from various congregations across the Diocese joined in, adding to the spirit of consecrated life and ecclesial communion. Catechists, lay faithful, and representatives from neighboring villages also came together, making the event a powerful testimony of faith and togetherness.
The inauguration of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church is a historic milestone for New Bunting Village, giving the community a new spiritual home and a beacon of hope, peace, and harmony for generations to come.
The celebration concluded with expressions of heartfelt gratitude to all benefactors, supporters, and well-wishers who made the Church possible. A fellowship meal, joyfully shared by the entire gathering, sealed the day with warmth and fraternity.
